REMOTE TOILETS WITH HOLDING TANKS
The need for an acceptable, hygienic and economical toilet for remote areas such as state and commonwealth parks and reserves where no sewer, water or power is available prompted Marsan, a division of Marine Sanitation & Gas Services Pty Ltd, to produce the following design as illustrated in the enclosed drawings.
This method uses a Marsan 316 SS dry toilet complete with toilet brush and holder which drops directly into a 3,000 litre holding tank below ground. The SS Marsan toilet has a 125mm drop through throat. A septic pumping truck can easily pump out the holding tank via a 225mm suction point at rear of toilet block. The tank has a 225mm vent complete with a western rotary cowl.
A 1,000 litre water tank is situated on the side of the toilet and is fed by roof water, for hand washing via a spring loaded tap. Water level would need to be monitored by Park Rangers in case tank runs dry.
The toilet block structure is a sturdy construction with Colorbond spandeck roofing and siding over a 40x40x3 galvanised steel frame. It has preclad wall and roof panels for quick and easy erection on site. The structure is designed to terrain category No.2, and is equipped with hand rails, suitable for unisex, disabled use or a double unit is available as a male and female disabled. Units can be installed in any Colorbond colour available at the time of order. For kit contents see “Kit Inclusion List”.
